SLB technology innovations recognized at the 2024 Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards

The annual Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards celebrate groundbreaking innovations and technological advancements within the energy sector.

This year saw nearly 500 nominations, resulting in over 180 finalists. Awards were presented across 29 categories within the industry.

SLB innovations were among the 2024 winners, taking home awards in two categories, including Best Production Technology.

Multicycle System for Actuated Response (MSAR)

The ACTive MSAR technology enhances downhole operational efficiency by allowing precise, surface-commanded fluid diversion. Surface commands control a downhole valve that directs fluid flow, either activating tools by flowing through them or redirecting fluid to the annulus to deactivate the tractor. This innovation reduces water usage and optimizes stimulation processes.

ACTive MSAR received the award for *Best Controls, Instrumentation, and Automation Technology—Upstream* at the Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards.

Autonomous Well Intervention

Through their Intervention and Stimulation Alliance, Aker BP and SLB are advancing well interventions by integrating digital workflows with autonomous execution for coiled tubing, wireline, and slickline operations. This comprehensive digitalization approach allows for technology reuse, development synergies, and a streamlined user experience that supports multiskilling of the future workforce. The initiative has led to marked improvements in success rates and operating speeds while also reducing CO2 emissions and operational costs.
