SLB Enters Collaboration Agreement to Accelerate New Digital Solutions
Global energy technology company SLB has entered into a strategic collaboration with Shell to co-develop digital and artificial intelligence solutions aimed at delivering measurable improvements in performance and operational efficiency across upstream activities, benefiting both Shell and the broader industry.
The partnership seeks to create agentic, AI-powered solutions that enhance and accelerate the work of technical specialists and decision makers. Central to this effort is the development and deployment of an open, secure data and AI infrastructure that integrates data and workflows across subsurface, well construction, and production domains, leveraging SLB’s Lumi™ data and AI platform.
“The energy industry is being reshaped by digital and AI,” said Rakesh Jaggi, president of SLB’s digital business. “Working with industry leaders like Shell enables us to accelerate development of advanced digital and agentic AI solutions that are changing how our industry works through automation and autonomy to generate value right across upstream, from planning through operations.”
The agreement builds on the long-established relationship between the two companies. Earlier this year, SLB announced a technical partnership to roll out its Petrel™ subsurface software across Shell’s global asset base, with the goal of standardizing infrastructure and workflows and enabling scalable digital solutions that enhance operating cost efficiency.
This collaboration will help shape Shell’s digital strategy and technology roadmap, encourage shared learning to support the company’s wider digital transformation, and contribute to the creation of digital solutions that are commercially viable and widely applicable across the energy industry.
