SINGAPORE STRENGTHENS ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING ECOSYSTEM THROUGH THREE GLOBAL & INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS AT GAMS 2026

The partnerships reflect the summit’s focus on turning emerging technologies into trusted, scalable solutions for industry.

SINGAPORE – Singapore is expanding the capabilities needed to bring additive manufacturing solutions from research to industrial use through three global and industry partnerships announced in conjunction with the Global Additive Manufacturing Summit (GAMS) 2026, themed “Building Resilient Industries with Additive Manufacturing and AI”.

The three partnerships involve the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC), A*STAR’s Additive Innovation Centre (AIC), Bavaria Makes, ASTM International and local enterprises ATC Globe Holdings (ATC), Forefront Additive Manufacturing and GD Precision (GDP). Collectively, they will:

  1. establish stronger R&D, start-up, market-access and talent links between Singapore and Bavaria;
  2. create a more integrated pathway for companies to move additive manufacturing solutions from research and design to production-ready parts; and
  3. advance standards, industry qualification and workforce development in additive manufacturing and related technologies.

The collaborations seek to address key requirements for wider industrial adoption, from developing and validating new solutions to qualifying them for production, building skilled talent and connecting businesses with international partners and markets.

“Additive manufacturing and AI are opening exciting new frontiers for enterprises to accelerate material discovery, improve product design, and bring products and solutions to market faster than ever. The challenge, especially for SMEs, is scaling these innovations beyond the pilot stage. GAMS connects leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors to build partnerships that help enterprises accelerate adoption and turn innovation into real-world impact,” said Dr Ho Chaw Sing, Executive Director of A*STAR Science & Engineering Research Council (SERC) and Chief Executive Officer of NAMIC.

Linking Singapore Businesses & Researchers with Global Industry Leaders

NAMIC has signed a four-year Memorandum of Understanding with Bavaria Makes, whose founding members include global industry players Siemens, Colibrium Additive, Oerlikon and EOS, alongside Bayern Innovativ and the Technical University of Munich. The partnership will connect Singapore businesses, start-ups and researchers with Bavaria’s additive manufacturing ecosystem through joint R&D and industrialisation projects, testing and validation of new technologies, start-up development and market access, and deeper research talent exchanges across both regions.

Accelerating Industry Adoption & Talent Development

Alongside efforts to strengthen international collaboration, GAMS 2026 also spotlights initiatives aimed at developing future-ready manufacturing and workforce capabilities in Singapore.

A*STAR's Additive Innovation Centre (AIC), supported by NAMIC, has entered a five-year collaboration with local enterprises ATC Globe Holdings (ATC), Forefront Additive Manufacturing and GD Precision (GDP). By bringing together R&D, additive production, precision finishing, treatment and testing capabilities, the partnership will help companies move more efficiently from development to industrial deployment.

NAMIC is also deepening its strategic partnership with ASTM International, one of the world's leading standards development organisations. Since 2018, the collaboration has delivered four international ASTM standards developed in Singapore, covering areas such as design guidance for polymer 3D-printed parts and standardised data formats for monitoring powder bed fusion process. It has also established three ASTM-accredited professional training programmes, equipping more than 120 individuals with additive manufacturing skills.

GAMS 2026 attracts over 400 delegates from 15 countries, including leading industry executives, researchers, and is held in conjunction with Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) 2026, Asia-Pacific's leading advanced manufacturing platform.
