Seafarers' Training Facility in the Philippines to Be Re-established in the Premises of Our Maritime Academy - Strengthening the Maritime Professional Development to Support World-Leading Safe Vessel

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) has announced that MOL Training Center (Phils.) Inc. (President: Teodorico De Guzman; Cavite, Philippines) held a groundbreaking ceremony on January 19 for a new seafarers’ training facility. The facility will be built within the grounds of the MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA).

The upcoming center will be equipped with advanced simulators for navigation, engine operations, and cargo handling, as well as other practical training tools. These facilities will support a broader range of training programs, including navigation proficiency, engine management, and emergency response. To ensure a focused learning environment, the center will also provide modern dormitory accommodations and dining facilities for trainees.

With Filipino seafarers continuing to play a vital role in MOL’s vessel operations, the new facility is expected to further strengthen the company’s human capital and uphold its globally recognized standards for safe ship operations. In addition, MOL plans to extend its training programs to seafarers from across Southeast Asia, positioning the center as a key regional training hub. Locating the facility within the MMMA campus is also anticipated to enhance collaboration between instructors and trainees, create educational synergies between MOL seafarers and MMMA cadets, boost cadet engagement, and deepen their understanding of careers in the maritime industry.
