Plenitude announces the start of operation of a 13 MW wind plant in Soria, Spain
Plenitude has announced the commencement of operations at the Numancia wind farms located in the Almarza area of Soria, Spain. The facilities, which cover an area of 10 hectares, are connected to the electrical substation in Garray (Soria) through a 17 km medium voltage overhead line.
The project features three Vestas V136 wind turbines with a combined capacity of approximately 13 megawatts (MW) and is expected to generate around 31 GWh annually, enough to meet the energy needs of more than 9,500 households.
“With the launch of the Numancia plant, we reaffirm our investment commitment to Spain, adding Castilla y León to the growing list of autonomous communities where Plenitude is actively developing renewable energy plants. This also strengthens our presence in the region, where we currently supply energy to over 24,000 retail customers, including 3,500 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),” said Mariangiola Mollicone, Managing Director of Plenitude in Spain.
The wind farms are equipped with automatic bird detection systems to prevent harm to local wildlife, alongside an environmental monitoring plan to ensure full integration of the facilities into the surrounding landscape. Additionally, a public recreational area has been set up near the farms. Plenitude is also exploring further investment opportunities in Castilla y León to expand renewable energy generation and enhance energy supply for its retail and SME customers.
With Numancia now operational, Plenitude manages over 440 MW of installed wind and solar capacity in Spain, with projects in Castilla y León, Galicia, La Rioja, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Murcia. The company is also constructing approximately 1 GW of capacity in Andalusia (Seville and Granada), Castilla y León (Salamanca), and Extremadura (Badajoz), and is working on additional projects exceeding 2 GW in capacity, which include hybrid and battery storage solutions, as well as offshore wind ventures.
Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni, operates in more than 15 countries with a business model that integrates electricity production from renewable sources, selling energy and solutions to 10 million clients across Europe, and managing a network of 20,000 electric vehicle charging points. By 2027, the company aims to serve 11.5 million clients, achieve over 8 GW of renewable capacity, and install 40,000 charging points.
