Plenitude announces the commissioning of a 50 MW Solar Power Plant
Plenitude has announced the commissioning of a 50 MW solar power plant in Zhanaozen, Mangystau Region, Kazakhstan. The facility is part of an innovative project developed by Eni and KazMunayGas (KMG) to build a 247 MW hybrid power plant that integrates solar, wind, and gas generation. The new solar installation will supply electricity to KMG’s nearby facilities.
Equipped with cutting-edge photovoltaic technology, the plant features over 80,000 panels spread across 80 hectares and is expected to generate 86 GWh of renewable electricity annually. The hybrid design ensures a stable energy supply by combining renewables with gas-based power, even during fluctuating weather conditions.
“The commissioning of the solar plant marks a key milestone in the Mangystau Hybrid Power Project and in Kazakhstan’s broader energy transition,” said Federico Pugliese, Managing Director of Plenitude Kazakhstan. “It demonstrates how international expertise and local commitment can come together to lay the foundation for long-term collaboration in renewable energy development.”
The project builds on the long-standing partnership between Eni and KMG, enhanced by Plenitude’s renewable energy expertise. Beyond advancing Kazakhstan’s energy transition, it is expected to support regional economic growth by creating jobs, driving technological innovation, and strengthening local capabilities.
Plenitude, a company controlled by Eni, operates in more than 15 countries with a business model that combines renewable power generation — with 4.5 GW of installed capacity — energy sales to over 10 million European customers, and a network of 22,000 electric vehicle charging points. By 2028, Plenitude aims to expand its global renewable capacity to 10 GW.
