Plenitude and Methagora sign a 15-year partnership for the sourcing of biomethane in France

Plenitude and Methagora, a developer of biomethane solutions and gas supplier, have signed a long-term agreement for the sourcing of 50 GWh of biomethane annually in France over a 15-year period. The agreement aligns with the country’s regulatory framework under the Biomethane Production Certificates scheme (BPC).

Under the arrangement, Methagora will supply Plenitude with biomethane produced across multiple agricultural regions in France. This supply is expected to support the continued growth of the country’s biomethane industry.

The collaboration highlights both companies’ long-term commitment to securing certified biomethane volumes for the French market. Built around the BPC mechanism, the partnership helps create favorable conditions for biomethane producers to invest while ensuring that consumers can access certified, locally produced renewable gas.

In France, Plenitude operates in the retail energy market with nearly one million customers and maintains a renewable energy portfolio with approximately 1 GW of installed capacity. The company is also expanding its presence in the national electric vehicle charging infrastructure market.

Meanwhile, Methagora focuses on upgrading existing methanation facilities that currently utilize biogas through cogeneration. Its approach involves converting these installations for gas grid injection by adding new equipment such as purification systems, compressors, and expansion valves to enable the production of biomethane.
