PETRONAS Lubricants International Debuts First-to-Market JASO-Certified Lubricants for Japan’s Newest Generation of Engines

PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) has set a new industry milestone at the Tokyo Auto Salon with the introduction of its first Japanese Automotive Standards Organization (JASO)–certified lubricants, developed specifically for Japan’s latest generation of advanced engines. The achievement is marked by the launch of PETRONAS Syntium Supreme for passenger vehicles and PETRONAS Urania for personal mobility, highlighting PLI’s commitment to delivering high-performance solutions tailored to the Japanese market.

Engineered for modern, high-efficiency passenger car engines, PETRONAS Syntium Supreme 0W-16 and 0W-20 meet and exceed API SQ performance requirements and ILSAC GF-7B fuel efficiency standards. Powered by PETRONAS CoolTech+™ Technology, these lubricants effectively control heat and oxidation, helping to prevent deposit formation and maintain optimal performance throughout the oil drain interval. Improved shear stability ensures consistent protection under high-stress conditions, supporting efficient engine operation and fuel economy gains of up to 19%.

Further expanding its advanced product lineup, PETRONAS Urania 5000 JASO DL-1 0W-30 marks the debut of the PETRONAS Urania range in Japan and becomes one of the first PETRONAS Lubricants products officially registered under JASO standards. Designed for a niche, high-performance segment with limited global availability, the product features PETRONAS StrongTech™ Technology, which enhances oil film strength to extend engine life, improve reliability, support longer drain intervals, reduce maintenance downtime, and maximise vehicle uptime and fuel efficiency.

This new portfolio reflects PLI’s ongoing focus on delivering innovative, locally adapted solutions for both everyday motorists and commercial operators in Japan. By combining global R&D capabilities with local market requirements, PLI continues to advance engine efficiency, durability, and overall performance.

All newly launched products are now available across Japan through Petroplan, the authorised distributor for PETRONAS Lubricants International.
