PETRONAS Hosts First OGSE Partners Day in Terengganu to Foster Resilient Ecosystem
PETRONAS recently held its Terengganu Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) Partners Day, following a previous event in Kuala Lumpur on September 4. The gathering brought together more than 200 local industry stakeholders to discuss new offerings and strengthen vendor capabilities for a sustainable, resilient industry ecosystem.
The event focused on action-oriented sessions covering critical topics, including sustainability, technological innovation, financing and growth, talent and capability development, and operational excellence. Attendees also had the opportunity to visit nine exhibition booths featuring government and industry associations, as well as financial institutions.
In her keynote address, PETRONAS Vice President of Group Procurement, Rashidah Alias, emphasized the need for OGSE vendors to prioritize local talent and capability development to bolster the state’s competitiveness amid the ongoing energy transition.
“Today, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in the oil and gas industry, where the landscape is defined by global challenges that cross borders. We urge Terengganu OGSE vendors to actively seek opportunities for innovation and growth. By prioritising capability building and upskilling, vendors can enhance their resilience and competitiveness, ensuring that they are well-positioned to meet industry demands and drive sustainable growth,” she said.
The Terengganu Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (OGSE) Partners Day was supported by the Terengganu State Government, with attendance from Ir. Saiful Azmi Bin Suhaili, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Kemasik, and Puan Afnida, CEO of Yayasan Pembangunan Usahawan Terengganu (YPU).
YPU showcased the Anak Terengganu Certificate (ATC) at the event, which certifies local vendors for active participation in the oil and gas sector. YPU, as the ATC custodian, manages the certification and verification process, collaborating with agencies to provide certificate holders with structured programs in capability building, skill development, and financial management.
PETRONAS reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Malaysia’s oil and gas ecosystem by empowering the local OGSE sector to achieve global competitiveness and technical expertise in energy transition technologies. Through initiatives like the Vendor Financing Programme (VFP), PETRONAS has facilitated over RM 342 million in financing for 54 Terengganu-based companies since 2018 in partnership with nine financial institutions.
Alongside VFP, PETRONAS’ long-standing Vendor Development Programme (VDP), supporting Bumiputera vendors since 1993, has benefited 10 Terengganu companies, with seven additional companies now participating in VDPx, an extension of VDP designed to enhance the capabilities of high-performing vendors.
As PETRONAS celebrates its 50th anniversary, the company remains committed to its role under the Petroleum Development Act (PDA) 1974, working closely with government entities, industry players, and stakeholders to drive economic growth and strengthen the resilience of the OGSE sector.
