PETRONAS and Shizuoka Gas Reinforce Longstanding LNG Partnership

PETRONAS LNG Ltd. (PLL), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), has entered into a new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Shizuoka Gas Co., Ltd., further strengthening a partnership that has spanned more than 30 years and underscoring both companies' commitment to long-term energy security.

Under the seven-year agreement, which begins in 2032, PLL will supply approximately 0.84 million metric tonnes (MMT) of LNG to Shizuoka Gas. Backed by PETRONAS' diversified global LNG portfolio, the deal enhances supply flexibility and reliability, enabling Shizuoka Gas to better respond to evolving energy needs and shifting market conditions. It also reflects the increasing demand for flexible LNG solutions that help customers improve resilience and ensure secure energy supplies.

The agreement was officially commemorated during a signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, attended by PETRONAS Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Gas and Maritime Business, Datuk Adif Zulkifli, and Shizuoka Gas Representative Director and President, Yoshitake Matsumoto.

Datuk Adif said, “This agreement marks more than a commercial milestone, it reflects 30 years of mutual trust, shared growth and a partnership that has continued to evolve alongside the changing energy landscape. We value the strong relationship we have built with Shizuoka Gas and look forward to deepening our collaboration in the years ahead.

The ceremony also commemorated the 30th anniversary of PETRONAS' first LNG cargo delivery to Shizuoka Gas, celebrating a long-standing partnership that has grown alongside the development of Japan's LNG market and the evolving energy demands of its customers.

Building on three decades of mutual trust, PETRONAS and Shizuoka Gas intend to expand their collaboration beyond the conventional LNG supplier-customer relationship. Both companies will explore opportunities to support decarbonization initiatives across the LNG value chain, reinforcing their shared commitment to a more sustainable energy future.
