Petrofac secures gas processing expansion contract from ADNOC Gas
As part of ADNOC Gas’s broader Rich Gas Development (RGD) Programme, Petrofac has been selected to deliver engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services for a major expansion at the Das Island facility. The scope of work includes overseeing procurement and construction contracts to develop a new gas inlet facility and install two new gas dehydration and compression trains, each with a processing capacity of 420 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), along with supporting infrastructure.
Additionally, Petrofac will upgrade existing infrastructure to enhance the site’s capacity for collecting and transporting raw natural gas. These developments aim to significantly boost gas processing capabilities in response to growing demand.
Tareq Kawash, Group Chief Executive of Petrofac, stated:
“We’re honoured to be chosen by ADNOC Gas—one of our longest-standing partners—for this important project in our home market of the UAE. We’re committed to working together to safely and sustainably increase the processing capacity at Das Island.”
Elie Lahoud, Chief Operating Officer of Petrofac’s Engineering & Construction division, added:
“We take pride in supporting ADNOC Gas in advancing one of its major offshore assets. Our long-standing collaboration reflects our dedication to reliable, high-quality project delivery. We’re excited to play a role in helping achieve the UAE’s energy ambitions.”
Situated approximately 160 kilometers northwest of the UAE mainland, Das Island has been a cornerstone of the country’s LNG operations since 1977. With a liquefaction capacity of six million metric tons per annum (MMtpa), it stands as the world’s third-longest-running LNG production site and remains vital to the UAE’s LNG export strategy.
