Maersk opens its first own-licensed bonded warehouse in north Vietnam, further enhancing its integrated customer service capabilities
Maersk has opened its first bonded warehouse in Vietnam at SLP Park in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park, located in Hai Phong province. Operated by Maersk Contract Logistics, this new facility represents a significant step in expanding Maersk’s presence in Northern Vietnam to meet the rising import and export demands from local businesses.
The event was attended by Lasse Pedersen Hjortshøj, Commercial Counsellor of the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, underlining strong support for international business growth.
Strategically positioned in the Hai Phong seaport area along Northern Vietnam's main logistics corridor, the warehouse serves as a critical hub in the region's international logistics network. It connects seamlessly with Maersk's existing fulfillment center in Hai Phong and the future terminal at Lach Huyen port, currently under development through a partnership between APM Terminals and Hateco. This setup aims to enhance Maersk’s storage solutions, operational efficiency, and customer supply chains.
The bonded warehouse offers customers improved inventory management and the flexibility to import/export goods without immediate duty costs, thereby optimizing supply chains and reducing expenses. These benefits will result in faster delivery times and ensure compliance with customs regulations.
The warehouse features advanced technology to boost operational efficiency and safety. Inside, it includes a modern racking system, streamlined sorting processes, precise inventory control, and an automated barcode system for high accuracy. Energy efficiency is also a priority, with skylight panels maximizing natural light, energy-saving LED lighting, and motion and occupancy sensors in office and public areas to reduce electricity consumption.
Amazon Vietnam, a cross-border e-commerce service provider, is the first customer to use this new facility, with operations set to begin in October. Maersk Contract Logistics will offer bonded warehousing, domestic fulfillment, customs handling, and in-land transportation services for Amazon.
