Intertek Business Assurance achieves global EN 15343 accreditation to promote sustainability in recycled plastics

Ensuring Transparency and Adherence to Regulations in Recycled Plastics

Intertek, a leading provider of Total Quality Assurance services globally, is excited to announce that its Business Assurance division has received ENAC accreditation to conduct Conformity Assessments and a new Recycled Content Product Certification scheme based on the EN 15343 standard, available worldwide.

Certification under EN 15343 enables companies to accurately verify the percentage of recycled plastic in their products—an important capability for plastic manufacturers and packaging companies striving to meet strict environmental regulations.

The EN 15343 standard aligns with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Circular Economy initiatives, helping businesses ensure compliance with international regulatory requirements while increasing transparency and building trust in their sustainability efforts among stakeholders and customers.

As businesses respond to rising consumer demands for sustainable practices and navigate changing regulations, collaborating with a reputable certification body like Intertek to achieve EN 15343 certification is crucial. This certification not only reflects an organization’s dedication to sustainability and circular economy principles but also enhances its competitive position in the market.

Ángel Monteagudo, Technical Director for Intertek Business Assurance in Spain, remarked, “Achieving EN 15343 accreditation is a significant milestone for Intertek as we aim to assist businesses in their commitment to sustainable and responsible practices. The certification will allow organizations to reduce their environmental footprint, improve their product lifecycles, highlight their sustainable design initiatives to customers, enhance competitiveness, and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Through this accreditation, Intertek is dedicated to promoting sustainability and facilitating positive change in the plastics industry, paving the way for a greener and more transparent future.”

Calin Moldovean, President of Business Assurance, Food Services, and Assuris, stated, “We take pride in driving positive change in the plastics sector, contributing to a more sustainable and circular economy.”

By providing EN 15343 certification, Intertek remains committed to supporting sustainability efforts and fostering positive change in the plastics industry, thereby contributing to a more transparent and environmentally responsible future.
