Halliburton launches EarthStar® 3DX horizontal look-ahead resistivity service to unlock reservoir potential
Halliburton has introduced EarthStar® 3DX, the industry's first 3D horizontal look-ahead resistivity service. This advanced technology enables operators to gain geological insights up to 50 feet ahead of the drill bit in horizontal wells.
By providing real-time data, EarthStar® 3DX empowers operators to detect potential hazards early and make more informed, data-driven decisions during drilling operations.
"EarthStar 3DX service is the latest example of Halliburton’s leadership in reservoir mapping technology. True to our value proposition, we customize our subsurface and drilling solutions to maximize asset value for our customers. By mapping geological variations before they are encountered, operators can adjust well trajectories to minimize risk, improve wellbore placement, and increase reservoir contact."
- Jim Collins, vice president, Sperry Drilling, Halliburton
Equipped with the industry's closest-to-bit, ultra-deep resistivity sensor, the EarthStar 3DX look-ahead service allows for earlier detection of formations. Unlike traditional mapping technologies, it enables operators to anticipate geological changes, enhance reservoir contact and hydrocarbon recovery, and minimize premature exits and unnecessary drilling adjustments. By enabling early intervention, the service helps address wellbore instability issues and supports safer, more efficient operations for customers.
