GreenIT starts production at two solar plants in Italy, marking a new milestone in its growth journey

GreenIT, a joint venture between Plenitude, which holds a 51% stake, and CDP Equity, with 49%, has begun electricity production at two solar parks in Italy’s Piedmont region, located in the provinces of Vercelli and Alessandria.

The two facilities have a combined installed capacity of approximately 19 MW and are expected to produce around 30 GWh of electricity annually.

The projects use approximately 32,000 high-efficiency bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on single-axis tracking systems. The technology enables the panels to follow the sun’s movement, helping optimize energy generation throughout the day.

Both solar parks were developed on former extraction sites that have since undergone remediation and redevelopment. The projects have repurposed the areas for renewable energy generation while supporting the regeneration and enhancement of the surrounding territories.

The start of operations marks an important step in GreenIT’s expansion in the solar energy sector and highlights continued progress across its development pipeline, which includes more than 300 MW of solar projects at an advanced stage. Meanwhile, solar plants totaling approximately 30 MW currently under construction in Campania and Piedmont are expected to become operational between the end of 2026 and early 2027.

Paolo Bellucci, Chief Executive Officer of GreenIT, commented: “The commissioning of these two plants marks an important step in GreenIT’s growth journey and reinforces our ambition to become one of Italy’s leading operators in the solar and wind energy sector. This achievement demonstrates our tangible commitment to expanding renewable energy generation and supporting the country’s energy transition pathway.”
