Equinor acquires onshore wind farm in southern Sweden
The acquisition aligns with Equinor’s onshore renewables strategy to establish itself as a market-driven power producer in key regions across Europe and the Americas.
The wind farm generates approximately 300 GWh annually, accounting for around 10% of Equinor's renewable power production for 2024. The electricity produced will be sold in the southern Swedish spot market, enhancing Equinor’s merchant exposure while providing immediate operational cashflows.
As part of the transaction, Equinor has acquired full ownership of the special purpose vehicle company Lyngsåsa Kraft AB. BayWa r.e. will continue managing the wind farm’s technical and commercial operations on behalf of Equinor.
Following the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals, the transaction was finalized on 19 March 2025.
