Barry Callebaut and Maersk Celebrate Official Opening of One of the Largest Cocoa Bean Warehouses in Asia Pacific
Barry Callebaut Group, a global leader in high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, together with A.P. Moller - Maersk (Maersk), a leading integrated logistics provider, have officially inaugurated their Built-To-Suit cocoa bean warehouse in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. The facility marks a key milestone in the decade-long partnership the two companies initiated in 2023 to develop and manage this warehouse.

Strategically situated near the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, one of Malaysia’s major maritime gateways, and just one kilometer from Barry Callebaut’s cocoa processing plant in Pasir Gudang, the new warehouse is ideally placed to strengthen both regional and global supply chains. Serving as a central hub, it will store cocoa beans sourced from Africa, Latin America, and Asia, supporting Barry Callebaut’s growth ambitions and enabling the company to meet customer demand across Asia and beyond.

Since 2022, Maersk has been supporting Barry Callebaut’s supply chain from cocoa-growing regions worldwide to processing facilities across Asia Pacific with its integrated ocean and landside logistics solutions. In Malaysia, this includes managing cocoa bean imports through the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, as well as providing trucking and rail services between the port and the new warehouse.
